Luxury Jewelry Rentals Launched In Japan

11, June 2009

Daikokuya, a major reseller of used luxury goods in the Japanese market, has recently announced the launch of luxury jewelry rental services.

Daikokuya entered Japan's market for online luxury handbag rentals in April, 2009 following players such as ORB and Cariru into the market. Daikokuya's luxury jewelry rental services became available via the same rental website earlier this month.

A large range of jewelry types and styles are available for rent on the site, including products from popular luxury brands such as Cartier, as well as non-branded items.

Similar to Daikokuya's luxury handbag rental services, jewelry items are available for 10 day and 30 rental periods, and discounted prices are offered to customers who decide to keep the product at the end of their rental period.

Rental orders are taken via Daikokuya's rental website, and products are delivered and returned via courier services, relieving the need for consumers to visit Daikokuya's traditional shops.

Rental prices start from 12,400 JPY (124 USD) for 10 days for a non-branded black pearl and gold necklace or a pair of non-branded pink sapphire earrings. Prices for other items vary according to product type, brand, design and materials.
