Uniqlo and Jil Sander Tie-Up

19, March 2009

On March 17th, Fast Retailing, parent company for the popular Japanese brand Uniqlo, announced its entrance into a contract with Jil Sander, a German fashion designer. The contract involves design consulting for Uniqlo products.

Under the contract, Jil Sander must supervise the creative design of all men's and women's products to be sold internationally. In addition, Jil Sander will oversee the design of all Uniqlo special collections. The new products will be in stores during the coming fall and winter seasons.

Jil Sander's efficient design methods, careful selection of materials, and quality craftsmanship are evaluated highly. These attributes are the same as those that have helped mold Uniqlo's strong reputation as a "basic fashion" brand in Japan. Fast Retailing currently sees Jil Sander and its creative methods as a vehicle for strengthening the Uniqlo brand image.
