Shangri-La Tokyo, the first hotel for the brand in Japan, will open in March 2009, and has begun to accept customer reservations.
Shangri-La Hotel Tokyo will be located on floors 27-37 in Marunouchi Trust Tower, a new a high-rise complex connected to Tokyo Station in Tokyo's central Marunouchi district. The station entrance can be reached in about 1 minute from the hotel. The Nihonbashi business area can also be accessed on foot in under 10 minutes from the hotel.
Although the Peninsula Hotel Tokyo opened in the Yuurakucho area in September 20087, and the Mandarin Oriental Hotel opened recently in Nihonbashi, the only competing luxury hotel in the Marunouchi area is the Four Seasons Hotel Marunouchi. Shangri-La Tokyo's central location should therefore provide it an advantage among executive business users visiting the area.
All 202 rooms in the hotel are based on the idea of "small luxury." The Presidential Suite is 269 square meters and standard rooms are around 50 square meters each.
Room rates at Shangri-La Tokyo will start from approximately 600 USD for a deluxe twin or king room. More premium rooms are to start from approximately 700 USD.
