Samantha Thavasa opens new shop in Ginza Tokyo

November 06, 2008

Samantha Thavasa, a brand which has gained overwhelming popularity among young girls for its high quality hand bags, opened new select shop, "Eight-Million", in the Ginza district of Tokyo on November 1, 2008. The new store stands next door to Cartier and other fine retail shops.

The day before the grand opening, at the pre-open party, the owner, Mr. Terada hinted at the meaning behind the name, "Eight-Million", referencing the numerous gods which exist in Japanese Shinto religion. He also spoke about the desire to introduce a completely new brand culture in Tokyo using products not yet popularized on world luxury markets.

Among the sponsors of the event, Beyonce Knowles made a guest appearance, and inside the shop itself, women's and men's bags, accessories, apparel, cosmetics, and candle sections were showcased. In addition, there is also a proposal for a third story for luxury goods from famous designers. Mr. Terada is looking forward to the opening of the second "Eight-Million" store in Shinjuku during December, and hopes that eventually the world will come to admire the Samantha Thavasa brand.
