“Black Friday” Sales are being introduced in Department Stores

The “Black Friday” sales that have been introduced in supermarkets in Japan are now being introduced in department stores as well.

“Black Friday” was originally a large-scale sale held toward the end of November in the U.S., but in recent years, Japanese retailers have begun to introduce the concept as well.

Sogo & Seibu, one of Japan’s major department stores, will hold its first sale on November 22.

Takashimaya, Japan’s another major department store, will also hold a sale at its online store from November 23.

With prices continuing to rise, each company hopes to use “Black Friday,” which has become popular in Japan, to spur the year-end sales season.
